Raqs Bastet! Dance Party -- Friday, September 25, 2009Poster for 2009 Raqs Bastet! featuring Eva Cernik.
Featuring performances by Daughters of the New Moon, Patshiva, and guest performer Eva Cernik.  

Located at the Buoy Deck, in the Coast Guard Station (across Egan from the JACC).  Regular menu available.

Doors open at 6:30pm, show starts at 7pm.

Open dancing after the show.  Bring a hipscarf, bring a friend, or just bring yourself and a sense of fun!

This is a family-friendly event.  All ages welcome!
~ Workshop Details ~

Workshops are being held at JAHC's Juneau Arts and Culture Center.  Convenient to nearby hotels, restaurants and groceries, and the Buoy Deck Friday night show location.

Saturday Workshop, September 26, 2009 -- 11am - 4pm (break 1-2)
  • Choreography: "Lemouni".  Learn a dance that incorporates veil and finger cymbals to a Rhumba rhythm with a Spanish/Tunisian flavor.  Emphasizes playing finger cymbals while performing (with veil).   Remember to bring a set of finger cymbals and a veil.  
    • New or beginning dancers may choose to participate for only the first two hours (11am - 1pm) of the Saturday workshop, which will include the warm-up and break downs of moves and combinations to be used in the choreography.
Sunday Workshop, September 27, 2009 -- 11am - 4pm (break 1-2)
  • Choreography: "Ya M'safir Wahdek".  Learn a dramatic Egyptian-style dance with a bit of Spanish musical fusion.
Private lessons:  Monday & Tuesday, September 28 & 29, 2009.  Private lessons are available to workshop participants only.  Payable to Eva Cernik at the time of the lesson.  Her rates are:
  • One person: $60 per 45 minutes, $40 for second consecutive hour.
  • Two people each: $45 per 45 minutes, $30 for second consecutive hour.
  • Three people each:  $35 per 45 minutes, $25 for second consecutive hour.
  • Four people each:   $30 per 45 minutes, $20 for second consecutive hour.
  • Five people only under special circumstances.
Private lessons will be held at the North Street Studio.  Please contact Katyija by September 23 to schedule.  Afternoon and early evening times available.
